Live shrimp on a jig head with a slow retrieve

Snook are known to hide in the mangroves and are attracted to live shrimp. The slow retrieve with a bit of a twitch mimics the natural movement of shrimp, making it an effective lure for Snook. Snook are also easily spooked, so it is important to use stealth in your fishing approach and fish during the early morning or late evening hours when they are most active.

To target Snook in Miami, I recommend launching your boat from the Matheson Hammock Park Marina, and fishing around mangrove shorelines, docks, and bridges in the early morning or late evening hours using live shrimp on a jig head with a slow retrieve.
